Naturism, Nature and Respect: Your Stay Near Charco del Palo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a short drive or walk from our rural retreats lies Charco del Palo, a unique seaside village with a long history of naturism in Lanzarote. Founded in the 1970s by German entrepreneur Gregor Kaiser, the area was originally called Castillo del Papagayo<\/em> before being renamed after a nearby natural pool, or charco<\/em>. It became the first official naturist resort in the Canary Islands and has grown into a welcoming international community where living simply, openly and close to nature is part of everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charco del Palo is not a typical beach destination. Instead of soft sand, you\u2019ll find three beautiful natural swimming spots carved into the volcanic coastline. Two are protected from the waves and perfect for relaxed bathing, while the third opens out to the sea, ideal for snorkelling. With no big hotels or tourist buzz, the village has maintained its original charm \u2014 quiet, friendly and grounded in the values of freedom, self-acceptance and respect for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before going further, it\u2019s helpful to understand that naturism is more than just being without clothes. While often confused with nudism, naturism is actually a lifestyle choice that values body acceptance, simplicity, connection with nature, and respectful coexistence. Nudism tends to focus more on the physical act of being nude, often for comfort or enjoyment, whereas <\/strong>naturism carries a wider philosophy about how we live, not just what we wear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do kindly ask that if you step outside of your private area \u2014 for example, moving through shared outdoor paths or parking zones \u2014 you wear something out of respect for other guests or neighbours who may not share the same practice. It\u2019s a simple way we make sure everyone feels comfortable and respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
