Lodge El Calderón – a Lanzarote Rural Home in the Valley of Máguez.

A Lanzarote rural home in the valley of Máguez 🌾

Tucked into the volcanic landscape of northern Lanzarote, Lodge El Calderón is a simple, soulful place to slow down and breathe.

Surrounded by open countryside, it’s perfectly placed for walking trails, quiet roads, and coastal adventures. The sea is just a short drive away, and you’ll be close to some of the island’s most loved spots — Haría, Órzola, Punta Mujeres, and Arrieta — each with its own rhythm and charm.

A Lanzarote Rural Home with roots 🐾

Lodge El Calderón is part of a 2,000m² rural finca, which we share with three happy hens 🐓 and our friendly dogs. You’ll have your own private garden, enclosed for peace and privacy — though at the main entrance, our dogs may be the first to greet you with wagging tails.

We live in a separate house within the same land, always nearby if needed, but your space is fully your own.

Nature all around 🌿

From this gentle spot, you’re just a few kilometres from the Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, the beach of Arrieta, the harbour of Órzola (gateway to La Graciosa), the spectacular Mirador del Río, and the charming village of Haría.

Whether you feel like walking, cycling 🚴‍♀️, or simply sitting still, this place offers both stillness and adventure. And when the sun goes down, the stars take over the sky 🌌 — best enjoyed from the garden, wrapped in the ocean breeze.

Well placed for little adventures 🚶‍♀️🚲⛵

Lodge El Calderón is a Lanzarote Rural Home surrounded by quiet countryside, with walking and cycling trails that start right from the gate — whether you’re heading up into the mountains or down to the coast.

Some of the island’s most beloved northern villages are just a short drive away: the whitewashed streets of Haría, the fishing port of Órzola, the natural pools of Punta Mujeres, and the relaxed beach of Arrieta.

Catch a golden sunset from the Mirador del Río, or hop on the ferry from Órzola for a day on La Graciosa — a peaceful island perfect for wandering and wild swims.

🚗 While it’s possible to enjoy some of the nearby sights without a car, we highly recommend renting one to make the most of your stay. Public transport in the area is limited and the nearest bus stop isn’t within walking distance.

Solar-powered, gently lived 🌞

Electricity and hot water come from the sun, thanks to solar panels. We ask our guests to use energy and water with care — just what’s needed, nothing more.

This is a place for nature lovers, for those who don’t mind the company of animals, the sound of wind in the trees, or the feeling of soil beneath bare feet. If that doesn’t sound like you, perhaps this isn’t your place — and that’s perfectly okay.

But if it does…
We’d love to welcome you. ✨

A Few Things to Keep in Mind Before Booking:

🌞 Solar Power

The house runs 100% on solar energy — including electricity and hot water. Phones, laptops, and small devices can be charged easily. However, energy-heavy items like electric bikes, hairdryers, or straighteners cannot be used.

The best time to shower is between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, when the sun is strongest. On cloudy days, hot water may be more limited.

🚿 Water is precious

Please use water mindfully — Lanzarote is a dry island, and we rely on water trucks to refill the tank. The garden is irrigated using recycled grey water, and there’s a pump button to provide pressure in the shower — please use it only when needed.

🚗 Location & Transport

We’re in a peaceful countryside setting in the valley of Máguez. There’s no public transport within walking distance, so renting a car is highly recommended to explore nearby villages and sights comfortably.

From here, you’re well placed to walk or cycle through nature — trails lead straight from the house up into the hills or down to the sea. The coast is close by, and the villages of Haría, Órzola, Punta Mujeres, and Arrieta are just a short drive away.

Enjoy a golden sunset at the Mirador del Río, or take the ferry from Órzola for a tranquil day trip to La Graciosa.

🏡 Layout & Space

The house is rustic and simple but more spacious than our cabins — with a private walled garden, a basic kitchen, and enough room for longer stays. We, the owners, live in a separate house on the same rural plot, and our friendly dogs may welcome you at the entrance — though they do not enter your garden area.

You may also meet our three hens, who share the land with us.

🛁 Bathroom Notes

Water is desalinated — fine for showering, not for drinking. Like in many parts of the island, please don’t flush paper or sanitary items, to avoid pipe issues.

We’ve created Lodge El Calderón for those seeking peace, simplicity, and a real connection to nature — it’s more rural retreat than resort.

If you’re looking for something more modern or conventional, you might prefer La Cabaña de Lola or Casa Tabaiba, also listed in our profile. But if you’re drawn to quiet skies, open landscapes, and a slower rhythm of life — we’d love to welcome you here.
